Go live

Before real alerts page real people, check that the path works. Then you choose when to switch it on.

Ask your assistant to send a test alert. Noci AI sends one alert through the same door a real alert comes in by, from its own “Setup test” source. You can name a team and a service to route it as.

  • The answer says which team and escalation policy it reached, and who would be paged right now, by name and role.
  • Nobody is paged. The alert is marked as a test and opens no incident.
  • It resolves by itself after 15 minutes.

If the answer says no team owns the alert, or no escalation policy matches, fix the routing and send another.

Ask your assistant to send you a test page. It reaches only you, as a Slack message, and nobody else is told. Your assistant cannot send a test page to another person.

Going live is the switch that lets a real alert start paging people.

Your assistant asks Noci to change the go-live setting. It has three modes:

  • off: this setting starts no paging for any team. Paging your workspace already had set up stays as it is.
  • teams: real alerts page only the teams you name.
  • all: real alerts page for every team.

Paging real people is a big step, so only an admin can confirm it, and only in the Noci console. Your assistant can prepare it and give you the link.

If your workspace is not allowed to go live yet, Noci says so. Ask your Noci contact.

When you choose teams or all, Noci checks the next 24 hours for the teams that would go live. If one has nobody on call, the review warns you that nobody is on call in the next 24 hours for that team. You can still go live. Check the schedules first.

Switch the setting back to off, or undo the change from the Changes page. Going live is then switched off again for the teams it covered.
