Glossary: incident response terms

Plain-language definitions of incident response terms: what an incident context lake is, how automated alert triage works, and what an AI incident timeline summary holds. Each definition opens with a short answer, explains the idea in plain words and says what Noci AI does today.

  • What is an AI incident timeline summary?

An AI incident timeline summary is a short account of an incident written by software from what was said and done: the alert, the page, the call and the channel. It tells a person who joins late what happened, in order, so they do not have to scroll the whole thread or ask someone to repeat it.

  • What is an incident context lake?

An incident context lake is one place where the signals around an incident come together, and Context Lake is Noci AI's own name for it. Agents and people start an incident from the same facts, and what happened and what was done is recorded in that same place.

  • What is automated alert triage?

Automated alert triage is software doing the first pass on every alert: how noisy it is, how it relates to the others firing, and what to look at first. It happens as the alert arrives, so the people who are paged start with a reason, and noise can be kept off the page.
